LeMans 24 hours race April 08

What a trip hey ! over night from Portsmouth to Laharve, thanks to Jeff I had a bit of floor in the cabin to sleep on, lucky I had a few ales prior to catching a few zzz's which made the floor bearable . Trip across the channel was un-eventual arriving early Friday morning. Off loaded and set off for LeMans, 4 of us on Bikes and rest in Amit’s van. I lead, but Jeff past after a few miles then decided to take an alternative route, so we parted ways, I travel down the back roads, and managed to pick up a few free coffees and cake etc at the numerous road side meeting points, I hooked up with a bunch of crazy French riders which made the trip very lively, I arrived in Lemans around midday.  Amit turned up ½ hour later and Jeff etc late in the afternoon

Due to our latest arrival, space for camping was at a premium, but with a little French and a lot off jabbering we managed to share a space in one of the roped off area’s ( seems this is the new way, send a group in early and used what ever it takes to section off an area for your party, bollocks)

Friday night’s a blur for  Bingo and I thanks to the garcon John who manage to keep the wine flowing  - although rumour has it Bingo decided to regurgitate the entire contents of his stomach into the tent, requiring a trip to Decathlon for replacement parts

I do remember take a number of pics of people hording pallets as firewood

Saturday started a little late for me , managed to miss the start of the race, due to some dubious alcohol, or maybe just the quantity. Saturday night was a slightly quieter affair, with a little race watching, drinking and sleep.

Sunday we watch the completion of the race, Suzuki 1 & 2, packed  up, watched the Gypsy’s scavenging amongst the ruins, man there was plenty of that, these French love to party.

Set off for Pierre’s around 3pm for a night of drinking the local wines with some great food thanks J.

Monday Jeff, Chris and myself decided not to take the fairy back, but ride to Calais and catch the Chunnel, bloody expensive train but worth the ride
