North East Spain Ride - Easter 06

Kate, Jules, Jeff and I hatch a cunning plan to escape the English weather,  that had us catching the 36 hour ferry from Portsmouth to Bilboa, 6 days riding and then returning via the same ferry.. We covered 1500 odd miles with 1 day of rain, excellent trip - Down the East coast  via Barcelona - Valencia - across to Toledo - then back up the middle via Toro and then a ride around the scenic Picos De Europa..

Highs - Great roads, great company, Excllent weather and plenty to eat and drink

Lows - Jeff and I both getting a fine each for 63 euro's for passing an un-marked police car on a solid white line, worse part was Kate and I were in front and return to the scene as I thought Jeff had broken down, only to be pulled over but the cops and given a ticket. Kate's Spanish came to the floor, but the cops were having none of it

Funniest Moment, Not being able to read the menu when ordering Tappa's that turned out to be the local delicacy of Bulls nose (yuck) I guess we should known as the village was called Toro

PO crossing from Portsmouth to Bilboa

Every where Jeff  goes his MCN goes

Lost again, no wonder as the sign to Huesca was bent and the road closed. BTW with EU money every road in Spain is under construction at present - so ensure you recent maps if you intend to take the back roads, as we found out some don't exist any more.

Sun's out  on the east coast - time for another decent Spainish Caffe con leche,  por favor

Afternoon tea in the Sun

Great Views of the Picos De Europa

Pissed again on the vino and sangria - excellent time to plan the next days route.. Excellent pension, 4 courses with vino for a fiver each - choice !

Ah the planning paid off - Jeff and Jules enjoying empty roads and great curves

Dito for us  - great roads

Dusk setting over Toledo

Kate framed by the Toledo Freedom Arch

Hmmm where is Jeff ??? Ah was that an upset tummy Jeffery

Excellent Paella

More Sangria

A veggies delight not ? - Even the smell was putrid - the Spainish love da carne

These great stalks like to build large nests, no place is sacred
