New Zealand Tour 2002
So got the old GS1000 up and running and headed off down to the South Island. Did about 4000 km all up.. Great roads, great people, lots of fun.
A few picks below of what we got up to..

New Zealand on the Horizon, can't wait to get off the plane after 36 hours travelling

On the way down the Desert road. background is Mount Ruapahue. Spot captain Frog on tour again

First stop on the South Island was Picton for the night, next day we moved on to the Able Tasman track . This is the view from Bark Bay . You can take water taxis to any bay and then walk around the coast line back. Fantastic

A bit of Flora of the native type

View Looking down on Torrent bay. That is our water taxi in the centre of the Pic

On the move again, now going down the west coast as usual it is pissing it down

Pancake Rocks. Hmmm the blow hole was not firing at this stage

The skid mark left after the rucksack jammed into the back wheel. Skid mark = 160 of my paces. And I didn't drop it |

The end result, one knobbed tyre. Had to ride slowly back to Hokitika and wait a day for a new tyre to be delivered from Christchurch |

Getting ready to go over Hasst pass.. It had been snowing the day before, as was extremely cold considering it was supposed to be summer

One of the many road side waterfalls on the Haast pass

Through Haast on the way to Queenstown. Road side view of Lake Hawera with Alps in the back ground

On the way to Milford sound, the scenery is stunning

New Zealand Native Parrot, the Kea. Cheeky little blighters, don't leave ya bike unattended as they will rip ya seat and any other rubber parts to bits.

Through the Homer Tunnel, been snowing again, thought this was summer.. No views of Mitra peak :(

Back in Queenstown, View from Coronet net peak, looking across to the Remarkables

View of Lake Tekapo, with Mount Cook range in the 'wing' mirror

So this is where Santa goes on his Holidays, Kiakoura NZ :)
