Lithuania

I thought I would try a trip somewhere a little different, so a long weekend was called for.. Few calls made and off I go to Vilnius

Hired a car and went exploring, interesting place, huge difference between prosperity in the city to just out side, road changes from Tarmac to dust very quickly if u detour of the main routes.. Food and Drink is cheap and extremely good, even the Pigs ears snack I tried, people are friendly and helpful, although not much English once u leave the city.. German helps.. A few Pics Below

One of the entry  points into the old part of the Vilnius

One of the many churches in the old City. The people were extremely religious

Main Cathedral build 1251 by Grand Duke Mindaugas, listened to Easter Friday mass here

View of Ambassadors residence from the main Square

View looking to old town from the Square

View of the Street outside the hotel we were staying

One of the old buses still running 1960 ilk. Check out the cobbled streets

Trakia castle that has been rebuilt from  the main walls that were left, they have done a great job

Trakai tourist trap, selling anything from trinkets to Russian Helmets to old steam irons

Guys doing a spot of fishing, they were all lined up around the edge of the lake, using small floaters, did not see a fish caught, must have been a hard day.

View from the road, the country is dead flat for miles, roads are as straight as

Stalk on a stick, these guys build huge nests, and it is thought lucky if they build next to your home..
